Why me?
I enjoyed 20 years working in mass media when an on-the-job back injury sidelined me for seven - yes, SEVEN - long years.
After five failed surgeries, the doctors told me I'd never walk again.
My heart hammered with fear when they said this to me.
Part of me wanted to die.
How could I face a lifetime as a bedridden, Vicodin-popping invalid, staring at four walls?
And yet ... and yet ... somewhere, deep down, a part of me said, "Thank you for sharing. I'm going to go get well now."
I started seeing alternative healers. They got me to the point where I could stay vertical for, oh, 10 minutes a day. Long enough so I no longer had to choose, each day, between taking a shower or having a meal. But hardly long enough to go back to work at the corporate job I left behind.
One blessed day in November 2003, I was graced by a miraculous awakening.
Suddenly, my soul lit up with the understanding that I needed to get out of bed and play my part in healing the world.
That day, I consecrated my life to that glorious vision.
And I set about learning the fastest, most effective ways available to heal folks in mind, body, heart and soul ... because I figured most people don't have seven years to lie around in bed hoping for a miracle, the way I did.
When I set up a private practice, my own healing accelerated as my wonderful clients started seeing extraordinary results after just a session or two.
Today, I walk, hike, sail, travel - even took up rollerblading.
And I have no back pain. I don't even take aspirin. Having spent six years taking eight Vicodin a day, that's one of the biggest blessings of all!
My practice has taken off, with clients from Sherman Oaks to Singapore ... students flock to the classes I'm creating with the guidance of my Higher Power ... I'm making a great living doing what I love.
Truly, I am blessed.
Seven years in bed was a small price to pay for the wonderful life I now enjoy.
